Pump Shutoff Swith for Broken Overflow Siphon

I recently found out about a pump shutoff switch that cuts power to the pump if you overflow siphon breaks. Does anyone use something like this? Is it totally unnecessary?

interested as well. or how about the pump that removes air from the overflow tube so this doesnt happen?

With a properly designed system it's just another safety feature that is hopefully never used. If your system is in a peculiar place (antique hardwood floors or Persian rugs), it would be a dire necessity.

They need to be checked regularly to remove any algae build-up take would cause them to stick.
