I just upgraded the pumps on them both and it took all of 5 mins each.

Try that on an FX5! :D

New pump is the 1262 which @ 4' pumps 665GPH vs the 1260 that came with it the filter; pumped 475 @ 4'.
all you have to do is remove the stock pump on the FX5 and replace with an external pump... someone posted about it on anther forum I will try and find it...

you realize that ehiem are the same inside and out as fluval filters. besides the fx5 and wet dry eheim. if you ever looked at the detailed spec sheet for fluval and ehiem you will see there the same.

i havent looked at the spec sheets but i question this for 3 reasons:

1 - the power consumption is different for 2 filters that are of comparible standard. eheim being the lower of the 2. by up to half as far as i have noticed.

2 - the shapes of the filters are different. so by default the the inside components needed to fill the space must be different so it would not work and/or simply tear itself apart.

3 - fluval are known to be notoriously shadey when it comes to sourcing parts. if the above was true wouldnt components be easily obtained as you could just order the comparible part from eheim.

They differ quite a bit in media capacity: 1.5 gallons (~6 liters for the FX5) and 18 liters for the 2260.

Since we are talking about the FX5 and the 2260/62...

:confused::confused::confused:

The Eheim 2260/62 has the pump on top built into the lid, the FX5 is on the bottom, it is the part that sticks out...

Not in the least bit true. Flow rates are different, capacities are different, pumps ability to pump under pressure is different, types of medias are different, flow through design is different, setup is different, amount of by pass is different, tubing is different, priming is different, and the tray size to overall canister space is different. Not much is the same about eheims and fluvals, other than the fact that they are both canister filters.

The 2262's are great. One heck of a pump, and one heck of a pain to swim against (for my fish).
