not sure whre this belongs, so please move as needed (like you needed permission)

i have a fixture with a "coralife 50/50 6000k" bulb inside. was given to me awhile back as part of a package. is this a bulb made for planted tanks, reefs, or just lighting in general??

my gogle search says all 3, but that dont mean anything. would this be enough to support a planted tank??

I think it just just a typical bulb with color enhancement, it is half daylight and have blue light, so instead of giving up the typical yellow light (which I hate) it gives off a blueish light you get from higher Kelvins ...

so I would say by its self it isnt good for plants or a reef rather just a good secondary bulb.

50/50 usually entails a saltwater bulb containing 50% actinic lighting.. however they usually run about 10,000k+ in the kelvin factor.. This would be bad, grow algae, bright light sensitive for murky water freshie fish..

a 6000k bulb would tell me its for freshwater plant growth.. anything over 6500kelvin will stress your plants and grow algae..

this says 6000k actinic.

i used it for a few months once, and i did have horribly green water. however at the time i was feeding my pacu over 1lb of algae discs a week.:screwy:
