Temperature with cichlids

What temp should I keep my tank at for a general cichlid community. my brother keeps his at about 28 degrees celcius and it seem to working great. please tell me if this is wright and if not what should I do.

Usually african cichlids aren't too demanding as long as the ph is high. If the temp is way up like your brothers just amke sure you have enough aeration since oxygen is lower at higher temps. 22 to 26 cel (72-76 far ) is the norm I think. Most fish can take a little lower or higher without much strain. :)

The average temp I keep all my african cichlid tanks is 76deg to 79deg F.

I keep most of mine at room temp 70 degrees F. They are very active and do great. I kept them this way for many years. When I have fry I heat the tank they are in about 80-82F.

25C (77F) here, maybe a little warmer in winter, to provide extra buffer in case of a power loss.

Temp choice is based on reading Marc Elieson's articles over at Cichlid-forum.com

I usually keep the temperature at around 78 for mbunas, but around 75 for my other cichlid tank (which has some haps in it)
