I read a post that said that Siamese Tigers or Wide Bars are among the rarest and most expensive Dats? I'm very new to Dats, like just stared paying attention to them an hour ago, but read this. I checked Liveaquaria and they have Gold Datnoids or Siamese Tiger Fish

for 24.99. But i saw a Dat in the FS section going for $700 each. Any explanation for this?

Looks like that site id=s just trying to make a quick buck. That Dat that is pictured is not a Siamese Dat. It is an indo. At the moment you will not see any 3-4" Siamese datnoids around anywhere. Last time anyone seen Widebars that small was about 3-4 years ago.

Siamese tiger is just a common name, usually used for Pulchers (Wide Bars). Unfortunately many LFS will use it for any species of Dat.

Above people are correct, that site is selling an Indo.

Most LFS I have seen call all the gold dats a Siamese Tiger...

Those are Indo Dats. Probably the most common of all the Dats. I've seen Thin Bars labeled as Gold Dats before.
