Roughly a year ago, construction began on the new fishroom. I can't express how excited I am to have the opportunity of not only having a special place to keep my tanks, but better than that, I got to design it from the ground up. It all began when the tattered front porch got wiped off the map.
Last look

This guy had skills. I was sweating bullets.

Prepping the foundation to endure lots of weight. My contractor didn't understand why I kept saying "It needs to be strong enough to hold up a Mac truck" until he saw all the empty tanks I had stored away.

2X8s 16" apart. Centerbeam = (3X) 2X8s bolted together and supported by concrete blocks. More to come as I dig through photos.

Dude! Nonono!!! First dig a huge hole in the ground and fill it with monsters. THEN build a fishroom on top of it!

This is where my biggest mistake happened. I went with 9ft ceilings and should have just gone with 10ft instead. It wouldn't have cost me any more because the lumber was already 10ft and had to be cut down to 9. The room uses far less energy to heat than I expected.

Any hobby that requires an addition to the house is pretty hard-core. Grats man, can't wait to see it completed.
