i am stocking a 40 gallon with tanganyika cichlids. i am thinking of calvus...they are great...i also really like troupheus but am not sure if i have enough room for them. looking for any suggestions.

Maybe a trio of Tropheus in a tank that small. Calvus are a good choice and some featherfins or gobies would be good pics.
calvus are probobly my favorite cichlid over all, but gobies are pretty sweet also, or you could put a couple dwarf comps in there with some other shellies
Ive kept a breeding colony of 15 duboisi in a 55gallon. Breeding constantly.. had to sell the little guys to lfs. for cheap.. that was 12 yrs ago... man its been a long time in this game..... but you can easily put a colony of 6-12 t. duboisi in a 40 gallon.. not sure on other types of tropheus... they are meaner. good luck
