Ok went to teh LFS and say some really nice large African Ciclids. I asked the guy b/c he had them in with some SA Cats can those be kept in a regular aquarium thats about 7.4 ph, and I use tap. He say yeah thats hte bottom of where they can be kept and he has done so with several of them for a few years in a row.

Ok I'm still thinking it would kill the fish, but maybe not? Could I keep one or 2 large Africans in with my Dats? These fish are about 5-6" so they are stable strong fish, not fry.

how big is your dat or does the 5-6" apply to both the dats and the ciclids? Also, what size is the tank that you will be keeping them in?

the africans might be too aggro, especially if they are mbunas...would work with something like fronts though

I put a Frontosa with a thin Bar and he kicked the $#!+ out of him and I had to put him (the Dat) in another tank.
