I was thinking of building/setting up a small indoor pond .... do you guys think it'd be cheaper to buy the rubbermaid tub and use it as a pond?

maybe build a wood housing and drop it in to make it look better than just a tub.... I know the tubs come as big as 500ish gallons.

I am sure the tub is more durable than pond liner... and you can move it around as needed... I know I may need to do this in a few years.

if you don't want one much over 500 gallons then I'd just get one of the tubs. if I ever did a DIY pond it would be well over 1000 gallons. of course, it would also never be moved either. LOL :D

Rubbermaid makes a nice oval 300g stock trough for $315.

gemplers.com has a 400gal stock tank for under $220. aquaticeco.com has poly bins up to 1500gals and can install 24"x24" windows in them. Their poly bins are also under $1 a gallon.

BTW, Rubbermaid no longer has stock tanks over 300gals.

Yeah the Ace hardware here has them for $200 but the Rubbermaid website sells them for more, pretty odd.
Aquatieco has some strange stuff.

They have them at the Tractor Supply Co. for $180 (the 300 gal). They also have bigger galvanized steal tubs for even cheaper, but I don't think they will make it inside my door. That brings up another thought, measure before you buy.

A company in my town called 'Aslin Finch Feed & Seed' sells the oval 300g poly 'horse troughs' for about $160. If you go to an equine store or anything that is farm related, you might be able to find a good deal like these ones.

stores like Lowes and Menards may also carry them. the Menards here in Columbus had a 150 in stock when I was looking and could have ordered me the 300 gallon for $180ish. :)
