i've been reading alot about the perils of feeder fish, but why arent there comments on a live shrimp diet?

my first micropeltes died , i believe from an bact. infect. in da belly.
so since then, i'vejust been feeding my new one live frechwater shrimp.

is this going the same direction of the feeder fish?

or is it better?

coloring is great though...

I feel that if you feed live shrimps, the sharp part at the shrimp's head might cut the soft internal organs of the fish.

whereelse for feeder fish, as long you get them from a reliable source and quareentine them for some time they should be ok.

what do you guys think with regards to shrimp's sharp part piercing the fish stamach.

shrimp are much safer..as far as i know, it will be a problem to small fishes and not larger ones like an aro..i've been feeding my aro with live shrimp and he loves it.

I breed my own feeders for my fish

I have fed shrimp in the past but my problem was with then getting out of the tank and finding them dead on the floor

I would think they aren't as fatty.

My shovelnose tiger cat and puffer wolf down the shrimp and as for damage, I think not. The catfish swallows crayfish whole and no problems.
