My husband and I just ordered a beautiful betta from Aquabid for his desk as work. (I think he was feeling really far from home without a fish nearby.)

Even thought this is 'just' a tiny little betta, we still are giving him a pimped out tank. (We are MFKer's after all). The breeder offered me the female sibling as well for breeding, but, when she found out I have never kept betta before, she said she would no longer offer the female to me. She proceeded to explain to me about water changes, etc. She was VERY NICE actually, so no bagging on her please. :) The poor thing probably thought that her prized bettas were going to some fish noob that were just going to stick them in a tiny bowl together, throw in some tap water, and kill it. I'm sending her photos of the currently cycling planted tank that this guy is going into. I hope this will reassure her that the discus and exotic catfish/pleco specialists will be fully qualified to take care of her bettas. Its not actually fully planted and arranged yet, but you get the idea. :)

Can't wait till he gets here. :)

Oh, man, what they've done with bettas these days! I like the red dragon bettas with golden scales, but yours is as thoroughly stunning as any betta I've seen! Good taste.

I think it would nice of me to give credit where it is due. This fish was bred in Thailand by the very nice and helpful people at http://www.nicebettas.com. I'm giving them a quick plug here since they have been very helpful. We've never ordered fish online since we are so damn picky about them, much less had them brought in over seas. I had no idea how to get a fish over here from across the pacific ocean and to my doorstep, but they have walked me through it. I have not received the fish yet, but I will update with how it all went and pictures of him in a couple weeks when he arrives.

With people believing you can put betta into fresh tap I can see why that seller was worried! But never keeping a certain fish species before doesn't mean you don't know how to keep fish at all.

That is one good looking betta! That fish is going to have a luxury suite to live in too. I just don't get how it looks like it's floating off the stand, lol.

Sorry, but love your bettas. Sometimes I feel guilty that here we are judging these poor fish as pretty and/or worth more than others when these little creature just want to eat, breed and survive like the rest. :( But, yeah. We're totally guilty of that and thought he was a stunner. :naughty: If I can convince her to send me the female too, I'll let you know if I'm a successful breeder. ;)

He has a red copper dragon right now that we were so torn over. Since its going to be a couple weeks before he is shipped out, I might break and get him too. He's drop dead gorgeous.

I told my husband that the betta reminds me of the burlesque women who wore the gorgeous lingerie and feathers.

I sent her photos of his cycling home and explained to her that we literally have a reverse osmosis water tower in our garage that we make and mix all of their water with matching pH, GH, and temperature before every water change. I'm hoping to inspire her confidence in us, and put her a easy that we do know what were doing.
