i will be asking my mom and stepdad if i can start a 10gal fw tank at their house. it was running for a while then got taken down 2 years ago because it looked like crap (black sand, no decor, and a common pleco).

when i restart the tank, i want it to be as low maintenance as possible.

so, im gonna make it pretty densely planted, so the plants soak up the nutrients /nitrates/ammonia/etc. and so the plants make it look nice.

there will only be 1-3 fish and maybe some inverts.

the light will be a single T8 fluorescent tube, and the gravel will be black or brown.

suggestions please!!!

I had a 10g tank with a mickey mouse tetra. They are a reddish color with a mickey mouse head on the tail. They would look really nice against the black gravel.

That could work... But platies like being in groups.

Perhaps... A snail of some sort, a male fancy guppy, and a banjo cat?

if your willing to pay a lot, some galaxy rasbora would work nicely.
