my buddy is looking for a catfish that he can put in his 10 gallon tank. he will keep it in this tank until he gets the brace set under his house to support his 55 gallon tank. i go to his house semi-often so i do help him with his fish hobby obsession.

so he asked me tonight what kind of catfish can he get to put in his 10 gallon tank to grow out until he gets the 55 up and running? so i am getting your opinion that way i can kind-of filter out the impossible and let him know from a third person perspective.

thanks in advance.

He needs a brace under the floor for a 55? I'd be afraid to live in that house if they're worried about a 55.

What does he plan on doing with the 55? Cories would be a good choice if he doesn't want anything overly aggressive or predatory. If he's setting the 55 up soon, he could also go with something a little bigger if he starts with babies.

well andyjs. I'm the buddy, My floor in my is mostly in the back coner of the house. I am just kinda well, umm, wanting to make sure that the weight of the tank isn't gonna collaspe my floor. And yes my house is fairly old. Built in like the 1930's by my nabors grampa. so you know, just making sure.

Of course, no offense meant. Better safe than sorry, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. For a 55, I wouldn't get anything that gets bigger than 8" or so.

What type of fish are you wanting to put in the 55?
