Hi all,

I have a 50ish gallon tank with the eclipse system hood. I have 1 oscar and 1 redtail cat in it. I was told I will need a better filter system and my cat will eat gravel. What would you all recommend I do. I need a consumer reports for filter systems :) And should I switch to sand? I don't like the looks of not having gravel but I will do what's best.

I have photos here:

save money and dont buy either, invest in a 300gallon tank, as in 6 months ur cat wont be able to turn around in that tank.

I see in your other post that you are aware of the RTC needs, sorry that you can't provide for it but then again most people can't.

As far as a filter upgrade, that will be hard since the eclipse top really doesn't a;;ow for it. You could add a canister filter that would require the least amount of mods to your hood.

Okay I think I am going to leave it be, do plenty of water changes and keep an eye on craigslist for bigger tanks. Thanks. The trick with be getting it into the house without anyone knowing.
