Is it worth it?

I pitched the idea (to my parents) about getting rid of all my fish tanks, if I could get a 125g so I could keep larger fish.

What I would be losing is a 90g AC tank, 55g with a frontosa colony of 6 (not breeding yet), a 30g tank (nothing in it), a 25g tank with a breeding pair of convicts, a 10g tank with guppies, and 5g tank full of fry.

I figure if I sell off everything I have now including equipment I could buy the 125g new and fully set up (without fish) without spending a penny.

Worth it or not?

Thats what I'm doing, I'm sacrificing a 30g long, 29g, 20H, and a 40g for a 120g. I'm buying new filters though.

Ouch, what are you planning on keeping in your 120g?

:iagree: an extra hospital/QT/feeder tank is always handy.

Getting a single 125g instead of having all the small tanks is a great idea. I'm sure your parents will like the idea too.

there wasn't instant rejection when I pitched the idea, which really surprised me.

if you are limited to the 72x18 footprint for space reasons like I was, do what I did: get the 150g instead. its 7 inches taller. if you go with the Aqueon version, it is 29.5" tall, which is 15g more than everyone elses "150" so you are really getting a 165..which is bonus :)

and I agree about a small hospital tank. I keep a 20g in my laundry room for such purposes.
