sounds interesting, more info, where do you get them. what kkind of wattage/where do they hook into.
UPS (Uninterupted Power Supply) are available all over. Walmart, Staples, Office Depot all carry numerous models. APC is one major brand.
They range in wattage from 50 -> megawatts and in price from $20 to hundreds of thousands!
Even a cheap $29.99 model like above would keep airpumps running for days in a power outage. I have used a 450W for airpumps and experimented with a small AC/20 waterfilters without a problem.
The pure sine wave (smart) models usually start in at around $200. I got a minuteman 1200w/ 1000V pure sinewave UPS for under $300. It has eight powered plugs and eight more surge protected plugs. I have 5 HOB filters and 3 airpumps attached to the UPS plugs.
The UPS plugs right into your wall socket and runs off your home electricity until a opwer outage when the battery backup kicks in.
