Greetings,

My CK and Senegal all poop black...

Both my Floridas poop white...is that ok? Diet consist of frozen tilapia/shrimp. Rare treat in a blue moon of live ghost shrimps and minnows. Temp at 79-83; PH stable (never messed with it) around 7.6 (tap water). Water perfect, zeroes across, never higher than 10 nitrates (twice 50% water change a week).

Ive read on other forums that it is not a good sign when they are popping white. Although both have a tremendous appetite and nothing seem to be out of ordinary.

Ive noticed that people are feeding pellets given its balanced nutritional value. Is that an essential diet for the gars?

Many thanks in advance for any comments...

I can't respond to your concern for the color of the feces of your gar. I can address your concern for a balanced diet. I've tried to get my 2 floridas to eat pellets. They won't and I've had them for almost a year. I've concluded that I will never get them to take pellets, so I try to give them the best possible foods that I can. I think my gar are doing OK.
