I was talking to my LFS on this product. they used it on a test saltwater tank and according to them it worked like a charm . In 2 hours Nitrates dropped dropped to zero from 80 ppm.

Tried emailing the manufacter so far no reply. My question is has anybody used this product on their freshwtr tanks? Will this work in fresh like it did in salt....who on this forum has used this?

Btw I have trouble with Nitrates , water changes are only semi effective since 20 - 40 ppm ( depending upon time of year) is in my tap water.

It would be interesting to find out if it works with freshwater. I did a little searching with google but didn't find if good for fresh.

Thanks nobody seems to know? I may have to do my own little experiment on some expendable fish.

why do you need to experiment on fish? if your tap water has that much nitrate in it already, just fill a bucket, treat, and test.
Yes I agree don't test in on fish thats just cruel. You could always call the company and ask them!

Subject: Natural Nitrate Reducer tech Question

Is this product safe and effective for Freshwater tanks ? PH range 6.0 to 7.5 or does PH matter at all in it's effectiveness.. I'm assuming this product will work in High PH African cichlid tank set ups?

Please confirm

90 gallon heavily stocked community tank.
PH 6.5, temp 82, GH 120

Bought new API N03 solution tested tank , it's at 80 PMM (API color gradient needs a little more contrast). Today was the day to change water it's changed twice a week roughly 35% per change. Skipping water change.

Added 5 capfuls of nitrate reducer- roughly half the dosage..

Will post Nitrate results in 2 hours and then in the morning. if nitrates are not reduced in 2 hours and fish seem non stressed I will add the remaining 5 capfuls.

for the natural pundits on this forum please do not get offended by the addition of these chemicals..there is much worse being dumped in our water supply all over the world.

It's been about 2 hours no noticable change in N03 readings or in behavior of fish. Added remaining dosage of Nitrate remover:popcorn:
