New NTT Datnoid =)

I picked up three 4"-5'' NTT Datnoid yesterday on my B-day!!! I traded one in for a prochilodus today so I now have a pair of Prochilodus and a pair of NTT Datnoid. One of my biggest concern about the NTT Datnoid is their aggressive behavior might lead them to eat all of my baby Indo datnoid (x15) due to a differences in size. However, it turned out to be a happy ending they get all along just fine the baby Indo Datnoid swimming together with the two 5" Ntt Datnoid.

thanks, the best part is the the Ntt Datnoid that i got yesterday is that they accepted frozen krills and some hilkari pellets but they spit out the pellets and try to eat it again. I'm still trying to train them to accept pellets because I could tell that they are starving and most likely to give up on having live feeders as a daily meal. The previous owner feed them live feeders and now I'm going to change it.

Grats on the new NTTs bro, but you NEED to move those Small ITs out of there. Once those NTTs become adjusted to their new home, I would expected those bite sized ITs to disappear!

i agree. or maybe feed them well. but i wouldnt risk it :)

Dont worry about this, it wont happen. I put in my baby IT's (.5" smallest, ~1" largest) in my dat community tank and they didnt eat them. My biggest at the time was my 7-8" IT and that fish could swallow feeders 2-3" no problem.
Only time I heard of a dat eating another dat was when small dat got in the way of a big dat feeding on feeders and was swallowed half-way by accident. forgot if it let it go or not.

Thats too risky. I would definitely seperate. Better safe than sorry.

I would be more worried of the prochilodus killing each other than the dats. You will most likely end up with only one. I have heard of dats with a much larger size difference living together with no problems. GL ;)

prochilodus killing each other? I mean I have seen them fight before and I do know they do fight and get agressive within the their own kind but I dont think prochilodus could actually kill each other in a fight.
