    Dear David,

If part of the glass tube is not fully submersed, the unit could be reading room temperature and overheat. We believe that the depicted setup doesn’t represent a problem, however you must ensure that the heater glass tube will not be in contact with the pvc pipe, otherwise the unit will eventually metl the plastic and cause a leak.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further assistance.

I run hydor inline heaters. 2 300watt on my 150breeder. Love em.

I once made a pvc cover for a heater and when I went to clean it oneday noticed water had somehow gotten into it and it was blown out and all kinds of colors inside. I wouldn't personally risk putting a heater in a tube again. That's just me tho....

I have a 300w hydor on my tank, cut the return hose from the cannister and install it there. no leaks, good temperature control and no unsightly heater in my tank
