I've acquired several sponge filters now and use them to save money on power. Good stuff, I now realize.
Oscarum Monstruoso:
In my experience, people who are so eager and open about the prices they pay are usually lying in order to hide how much they actually paid. The way you can tell who is lying is to ask them for topless pics of their wife. If they comply, they are open and honest and are most likely telling the truth. If they won't, then you know that they're not sharing the true amount they paid.

I stock up on sponge filters when funds don't allow. They can be a life saver this time of year when you need a tank going and all your cash is in the wifes hands for xmas lol.. Ironically that same 125 gallon is back on nothing but sponge filters yet again.

Thanks for that article aclockworkorange, Very well written and interesting, not to mention informative.
I had a few laying around that I had used a while back in other tanks. I had forgotten just how effective and how multi function these things are.
I went right out, cleaned the 2 old ones (still in great condition) and they are now in my 280g!
The ability to quickly cycle a new tank set up, or for Quarantine emergency use , or for power outages well the + are huge!!
Thanks again!

I've been wanting to do a couple sponge filters (power goes out fairly often, my corries like to spawn right after this, want to save some cory fry) I think since I'm poor, but I have spare tubing and air pumps I'm just gonna make my own, is their any type of sponge that I SHOULD NOT use?
