Hi you there,

I'm a newbee here and I'd like to ask for help... I'm aquarist from 2001 with a few success in relative "big" tanks (up to 1600 liters yet, which is ridiculous comparing to certain set ups I've seen here) : Pseudacanthicus scarlet, Pseudacanthicus sp "Black" L320, Leporacanthicus galaxias, mostly.

but I'd like to touch another scale : a Potamotrygon / Cichla tank, around 4'000 liters (280x120x140 cm, sorry, I'm unable to convert the units into US system  )

I need your help considering the "how to do" in building this tank. I think of concrete building, with only a front glass. My main issue is how to be sure that glass will do it on concrete ? silicon only will be sufficient ?

and other questions as :

- pond filtration ? or canister ? or separate filtration tank ? or inside filtration ?
- lighting power ? (considering there will be no plants into it, just wood and stones)
- TUNZE Stream x 3 (4) ?
- tank covered ? or open ?

any help is welcome ! at this stage, everything's open, except the dimensions ! thanks

Hello and welcome i used the conversion chart here and it appears that equates to around 1,244 US gallons definatley covered unless you are going to have sides glass or plexi about 3 feet taller then the tank..My choice of filtration for my tank was two 75 gallon wet dry sumps for my 675 galon tank aproximately half the size you are talking about ..I am not done with fitration yet have about 3000 gph running through the wet dry's witch is plenty for those wet dry's ..I am going to add in the near future another pump at 3000 gph running into a 100 gallon tub with two filter socks ...And something for ya to look up or google is Bio reactors with the combo of P'bass and rays there will be a heavey Bio load to say the least ....Oh and concrete with steel rebar and a viewing window is a great Idea....
