Also stay away from hasselets aka zebra on the web and lean towards an establisbed shark rather than an egg or pup.

Welcome to the forum. For a first post, that one is pretty bold and ironically on a very old thread from July of 2011. Just be aware most of the members posting in the shark/ray section have been keeping/dealing with captive sharks for a long time and will post based on fact from 1st hand knowledge and not mis-information on the internet. So far the other posts in the thread have been accurate.

If you would like to share why your stand is as you posted, please feel free to.

14" could be a year-ish, depending on sex, food, temp.

My banded is only 1 yr. (def male) He is already 20inch long. Lot bigger then 14 inch. And he's still a baby at 1 yr. My coral cat is at 18 inch and is also a yr. Both were pups when i got them and both are to big for the 180 i have them in. Im in the process of building a larger tank because a prebuilt is way to much money. Around 4-5000. So there is solid proof that 180 is tooo small. Honest opinion. Unless u have a small fortune packed away somewere for their home i would not get sharks if i were u. Sorry.

Syracuse. I got 2 from a friend of mine who owns a local pet store and one from a local pet store that shouldn't have had the poor guy so i had to take the poor little guy home and get him healed up. I didnt have the heart to leave him there to die. even though i know i shouldnt becuase they will get another. I asked them not to because most people dont have the systems for them but i am sure they will not listen. It was a chain store.
