I was at a pet store. In one of their big, open top tanks, they had this large stingray swimming around. I'm looking at it, and eventually i realize its staring right back at me. I put my hand on the rim of the tank, and he swims over, and jumps out a little and touches my hand. Then he starts following me around the perimeter of the tank, like hes begging for food and excited to see me. one of the employees gave me some food to feed him, and he happily ate right out of my hand. If I had compatible stock, I so would have purchased it. But in the end, I know it's bad to impulse buy a ray anyways.

They can tolerate freshwater by increasing their urea output. But eventually, will need brackish and even full saltwater as they are naturally from saltwater.
^^ This.

Petstores sell them as fresh, but they aren't. They are just looking to make money. It will need ten times the volume of water if kept in fresh to offset the ammonia/waste production. Not a healthy (nor cheap) way to keep them.
