    does smelt contain THIAMINASE ?

    Was thinking about this as I just started to feed my bass smelt and stopped as I wanted everyones opinion! Does smelt contain thiaminase (HITH)?

    wow...kinda wish I knew this before I feed my bass smelt! Giving you guys the heads up if you didn't already know this!
    Smelt is ok to feed to stingrays though, correct?

    So does shrimp and a lot of other seafood, If you feed your bass pellets as a staple some shrimp and smelt should not have a negative impact on them IMO

    You could look at it in a human perspective too. Does it affects humans in the same way as the fishes mentioned in the article?

    I could be wrong, but I'm not really seeing smelt on those lists...and the last one posted I've seen before I believe in the General Health forum.
    Again, I am aware of some fish containing this enzyme, but was unaware of smelt being one of them...and just wanted to share this with others that might not have known this in the cichla community...thanks.

    Thanks for posting this. I saw you mentioned smelt a while back and I was thinking about trying it. By the way how did you figure this out? Have you've tried silversides?
