Bought a tank with a 1 3/4" drilled hole what do I do?
I recently purchased a 40L from a pet store that went out of business but have run into problems when I decided to run a sump with a gravity overflow. What size piping will I need im new to this type of thing, but not with fish. The hole is an inch and 3/4 and i was just planning on running an elbow up and I already have five feet of 1" clear flexible hosing that fits my pump...

Sounds like you need a 1" bulkhead. Here's a link http://www.aquacave.com/1-bulkheads-437.html

A 1" bulkhead fits in about a 1 3/4" hole. Search Aquarium bulkhead on googlee and find the size bulkhead that requires a 1 3/4" hole. Buy it. Use an adapter to change to what ever sized pipe you want to run.

You seem to be new to bulkheads: if it leaks, DON'T SILICONE IT, just reseat it. Also, make sure you get threaded x threaded, you'd probably regret any slip fits in a month, mas o menos.

75g tank - on hiatus, soon to be set-up again.
