what do you mean? never heard of a tank being to big for a fish..lol

it is not ridiculous, small gar in big tank can led to broken back, even death gar! They can build up speed in a tank that big then bang their head into the glass, they can't do that in small tanks!

try put a betta in a 200G tank and you will see it starve to death! Some fish that too skittish or not active will not be able to find food in a large tank.
I.E: the bowfin, marble catfish that i see in the 10000 gallon tank at the Cabela's near me, they will stay at 1 spot most of the time and the Aquarium manager have to bring food to their mouth to keep them from starving!
