Anything under 55 gallons is a pain. Well to me at least.

I know what you mean. I personally would sell a few smaller tanks to keep the bill down a little and keep the 600 and 450.

Well been really busy and have wanted to do an update just have not done it. Really sad I got an even larger tank posted a pic and not even one comment. Lol. Guess my group of large tank followers is not as large as I thought. So we got all the wire in and the plumbing is ready to go. On the right in the corner we are going to install a vanity with a large sink for any needs that may arise. Above it you see two wire boxes lower will be plugs and top will be the show light switch. Meaning that I will run certain lights all the time but when I really want to show the tank I will flip this switch and power more lights in the canopy. I decided to run 18watt 6500k florescent bulbs in the canopy. Even if I run 10 of them which would be overkill (only 180watts) where tube lights I would be running 4 double 4 foot tubs at (256 Watts) so a good bit of savings. I am thinking of turning on two lights early morning to start sun rise and then night for sun set, I will have 4 bulbs running at noon day. I will just need to see really how many I news for the effects I want. Alright back to plugs very high on the wall is a 4 pack of plugs 2 constants to run with timmers and 2 on the switch. On the other wall to the right is a box that I will put another switch in and it will fire lights in stand and above vanity hence another box low for lighting. And a 4 pack for pumps heaters and anything else I need. Don't know if you saw other pics but we covered over a window because it won't even be visible once the new tank is across the wall it's 10 feet so requires allot of room. I decided that this tank will be easier to get into basement and already have all plumbing and pump so it's almost ready to go other tank just needed a little more work but I will miss that 3 foot tall opportunity which I know I will wish I had. But for stingrays this is a great tank option. Next comes the mud and sanding. Hope to get that done next week and maybe have it painted. Might just install tank onto the cement and tile around it and then carpet around that. But will see what wife wants to do. I just want to get the tank setup and running and move my larger fish into it.

Forgot to mention that with all the insulation in and sheet rock the room is keeping it's temp really well. So I am thinking that the heaters are not going to have to run too much in the tank but we will really see if we have a cold winter how much of the cold moves through the walls and floor. But I am thinking not too much since we really insulated everything really well.

Did the 600G come with a stand? I know you are a little bummed that it's only 24" tall, but if the stand is tall, it makes the tank appear to have more height as well. I think that tank on a 40" or 42" tall stand would look awesome.

I was thinking about doing CFLs for tank lighting as well. I'm curious how you plan to rig them up...can you post some pix? It's ridiculous how expensive larger aquarium lights are.

I was also considering hanging about 10 of these LED Flood lights over my tank. They are rated for outdoor use (so they are waterproof) and they only use 10 watts each. http://www.amazon.com/Waterpoof-Outd...148924&sr=8-16
In all affairs it's a healthy thing now and then to hang a question mark on the things you have long taken for granted.
