Thanks for all the comments/compliments everyone.
As far as heating costs, it made a bit of an impact, but its hard to tell how much exactly, I wouldn't say more than a few bucks.
My entire electric bill has gone up about 40 bucks. Factor in not only the heaters but also running 2 FX5's and all the new lights and waterfall etc. Not too bad I'd say. Ambient room temp is 72 but I almost never see the heaters on and I keep it at 79.5. Runs on 3x Aqueon pro 300w.
For being summer in Texas, I figured it would be more expensive to be honest. I was pleasantly surprised. My 345 Build <--- Come on by and see how its going!

not that bad i suppose, but over a year thats about almost 500 bucks. and the bigger you go the more money for running. has anyone every seen a small solar panel to run their tank heaters or even just the filters.

I doubt the entire 40 is going to the tank, I'd say maybe 25$ or so. Like I Said it's summer in Texas, so I'm sure my garage fridge as well as A/C have caused a bit of the extra energy cost. Either way that's still $300.
I'd love to find some kind of Solar setup for my tank and have actually thought about it before. For right this minute though I guess I'm just stuck paying an extra 300-500 a year. No biggie though, I didn't have any delusions of this being a cheap hobby.
Good thing is: I just quit smoking 5 weeks ago and I was a pack a day guy, so now I'm saving money!
Thanks again for the comments and compliments. My 345 Build <--- Come on by and see how its going!

yea i would love to see a solar ran setup inside and the wiring. i wonder if you would need a battery pack or just a converter with a heat sink.... very interesting.

Wow that is impressive! Love the natural look with the waterfall and everything. Nice to see another Texan from the metroplex.

Thank you, and

EDIT:
Random Tank update shot

I got lazy on the stand, I have a shelf built in it and its painted and stained but I still need to add the removable panels and sliding door to hide my equipment. Hopefully I'll have this done sometime soon after Halloween.Last edited by PDRed302; 10-17-2012 at 1:16 AM.

Its after Halloween, and I just finished your build sheet...got sides yet?
I LOVE the built in waterfall! My only concern is how big your Aro will eventually get.. I've seen some Biggun's that would bust even your huge gorgeous tank... Since your a texan, ever thought about a pond too?
