Most gars I see are 12-14 inches. But from reading it seems they can get over 20inches. But never seen one that large. Not sure full size 100%. Question- Is that a bottom drain in the tank? What are you using to keep the sand out of it?

23" florida gar, 25" alligator gar and 27" longnose gar respectively. all grown in tanks and all previously housed in my tank. with most species' gar do and will get larger than 20".

I would euthanize that one if it can't swim right and get its own food.
How would you do it?but I felt bad and the reason why I brought him home so he won't get killed, and yeah he looks like he can't really swim :( idk wat to do?

If it can't even swim, then it definitely needs to be euthanized. Such a fish will not live a good life due to its severe disfigurement and will die a slow death if you don't put it out of its misery.
