In the link above you will find legislation that is in the works to stop all imports of all species of exotic pets and prevent them from crossing any state lines. Read carefully and you will see that the only fish you will be able to get if this law passes would be a lousy gold fish. This bill would be extremely damaging to all of us. Think of it as HR669 on steroids. Think of how difficult it would be to get something as basic as a lionfish in some states.

Remember the end game of any of these bills is to ban all non-domestic animal from your house.

If something like that passes it would be bad news for almost evetyone in the pet keeping hobby. Think of all the stores that would go out of business. Not to mention the price of your common gold fish would probably triple! Lol

This PDF lists what are currently defined as the inujurious animals that would prohibited.

http://www.fws.gov/fisheries/ANS/pdf_files/Current_Listed_IW.pdf

That includes:

The Clariidae (walking) catfish family, Mitten Crabs, Zebra Mussels, snakeheads (sorry, Channidae fans!), Silver Carp, Bigscale Silver Carp, Black Carp, Bighead Carp. For you herp lovers, it also means Burmese Pythons, African Pythons, and Anacondas.

It does not include the rest of the aquarium trade -- you will find more restrictive state-by-state lists in the already existing, pinned thread in the FAQ subforum: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?36365-RESTRICTED-SPECIES-LISTS-BY-STATE

Read it more closely. It says that those species are banned as well as any others that are not on the "exclusion list". The only fish not on the exclusion list is a goldfish and there are no reptiles at all. It pretty much only includes some livestock and cats and dogs.

Which subsection and heading are you citing? The domestic species listed in Sec. 3 Definitions are simply species that they aren't going to bother regulating.

This bill DOES NOT immediately ban every non-native species ever. Yes, as written, those do have the POTENTIAL to be banned by law. However, this particular bill will REQUIRE lawmakers to research any animals (other than those on the FWS injurious list) BEFORE they can create federal legislation banning them -- AND it can't be done wholesale -- it will be done on a case by case basis at the species, genus, and possibly family level.

Read more carefully, yes this bill DOES ban every nonnative animal from importation and interstate commerce for EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET except what is on the approved list... (i.e. horse, duck, donkey, goldfish, etc.)

This IS dangerous, and if you don't think it could get passed, look to Australia. They currently have this monstrosity of nazi legislation in place.

This gov't really needs to get its priorites straight. Always worried about animals and the pet trade. What about the dope dealers on the corners of schools, terrorists living in our own neighborhoods. Border jumpers. The list goes on forever and theyre worried about friggin fish and other animals. This really burns by ass!:swear:
