Marble gar..... right?

Where the fish go.
Im here down in Socal visiting my bro and went looking around his LFS and saw this guy. Im just tryin to confirm its a marble gar, the tail looks a little off to me so im not sure.

Very clearly a true gar, not a false gar. No adipose fin, rounded tail and not a forked tail. Typical lepisosteus juvenile patterning. Not sure how you can mistake this for a false gar.

And as already stated illegal in California.

Yea i Know all true gars are illegal that's why I was checking in with you guys. Thanks for all the help guys.
