Hey all. I picked up a LNG just over a month ago. I can't believe the growth rate on this guy. It's almost like every time I wake up in the morning, he's noticeably bigger.
Now, I recall multiple posts that suggest keeping a school of feeders available so the gar can eat as much as they want, when they want, until they're around 8". This guy is ~11" and still has that filament on his tail typical of youngsters.
Should I keep him with a school of feeders until that wierd tail thing goes away, or is it safe to move him to a prepared diet?
P.S. Are there any discussions on that filament on the tail? With my FLG's, it just looked like a limp growth. I thought it was a deformation until I saw it was normal. With this guy, it looked like he could control it when he was smaller, and I'm wondering if they use it as a lure or something?
