since I have a few threads kinda scattered.. I figured ide do a new update of the Garmy in my current residence...

The picture simply do not do him justice, atm hes got a neon yellow and black striped tail. I never thought ide say a Gar was colorful.. but hes spectacular atm!

Top is Spot we picked him up last fall at one of our local LFS already 14" or so I think "she" has gotten chunkier, and maybe grown 1/2 an inch if that. The bottom is GAR.. we've had for 2 yrs+ now and our first gar, he was about 6" when we first got him. "His" fault for the addiction...

Our newest lil' florida, unnamed as of yet but doing well and approx 6"ish now. was about half this size when we got him. wasn't sure what species at first.

couldn't get all 3 to cooperate for a group shot.. but managed to get 2 of them together.

So we are officially up to 1 Cuban, 3 floridas, 3 Longnose.... hopefully everyone survives and we don't get another jumper ( the tank is now covered much better) and My husband has officially cut me off... lol

Jaws is about 16" atm ill get a better measure on everyone here as soon as the new tank is ready for them. they can all turn in the 75 pretty well yet but its getting real tight, and i dont want to start stunting anyone. im doing 50% twice a week atm to keep nitrates around/under 20ppm.

sbuse idk what im going to tell my husband when i find a trop.. maybe that it followed me home? lol. ive actually got a piggy bank ive been secretly saveing in for a rainy day.

-all the fishes are looking great Amy, nicely done! also, don't be too concerned with nitrate levels...i have never seen them do anything to ostensibly affect the growth of gars. obviously frequent water changes aren't going to hurt the fishes either. keep up the good work and we look forward to further updates!--

Kevin, prolly has somethign to do with the 100 goldfish i drop in the tank approx every 2 weeks, and the NLS every night. And the nightcrawlers they have all learned to swipe if the eels aren't fast enough to grab them.... lol they do fast on weekends though. I try and keep the tank a consistant 76, but it fluxes with water changes as i add colder water back in. Thanks Sol, The water changes are actually more for the spiney eels as they are pretty sensitive fish.. hate to admit it but they are my miner's canary. But i'm sure the gar appreciate it too. Hopefully we'll have time this weekend to finally get some work done on the 120 but i'm not holding my breath. In the very least i'm going to try and get the sump put together, right now its a 40b filled with eggcrate, a plexi sheet, and a tube of silicone.
