It really sucked to come home from work to a dead 9.5" IT. It was my favorite one out of the three of the same size that I have, with very thick identical bars on both sides. It was The alpha dat before I added a school of red hooks. Then it got bullied by the other two. Got some injuries and not eating well from being too stressed out, then died.

Anyway, I'm looking at adding 3x baby IT's ranging from 2" to 3.5" and 1x 3.5" flag tail to the same tank. Should I be concerned that the current dats may try to eat the new comers? I've heard that bigger dats usually leave baby dats alone, but haven't experienced it myself. Thanks.

Dats won't eat other Dats and Imo they completely leave the little guys alone. I have a 9", 6" and 2 3" indos with 2 4" NTT's. The only 1 that gets picked on is the 6" by the 9".

I have (2) 2.5" NTTs that I want to put with my other Dats. The biggest being a 10" IT. I trust the Dats...it's the Pike and Endlis I don't trust;)

Thanks JC. Yes, they do. I'm trying to add some bigger fish that could keep them both in check, like what my 17" pink GG used to do before she turned into a dat hater :)

Funny thing you mentioned about GG being a dat hater. Had a gray that hit 12" and became one. Now I'm trying for the second on a red eye albino. He/she is hitting 10" now - crossing my fingers......

It's already been answered but just for extra assurance, I agree that large tigers leave smaller ones alone. My personal experience at the moment is a 7"-7.5" NTT and 6.5" NGT with the smallest tankmate being a 1.5" IT. They take no notice of him.

Have a 2" Indo in one of my 55's and hasn't been eating for a week, so I'm just going to put in my big tank with eight 7"-12" indos & two 7" NGT. Gotta try it sooner or later. Wish me luck!
