Where will you keep that beast?

Well i had started putting money away for a 600 + gallon tank or indoor pond in my basement for my two red tail catfish but they passed away during hurricane sandy. I will continue my quest for a monster tank and thats where he will end up fortunately these guys grow a lot slower than the RTC so i have another few years before the monster would get too big. Itll give me more time to save up for a even more kick ass set up

The only reason I dont think its a rutilus is because of the thickness of the body. It is more common to have the thicker body in the Yarelli. All of the Rutilus i have seen are much flatter looking.

From what i have read B rutilus's adipose fin starts before the anal fin, thats why i was asking. You done well to see a true B rutilus because i havn't really seen any confirmed B rutilus apart from pic on PC, i could be wrong though.
Just been checking and it seems Fishbase have B yarelli having same characteristics, regarding start of adipose being in front of anal fin. But fishbase is still using Tyson r Roberts 1983 description, PC are using Ng & Kottelat, 2000, so which is right, anybody know? Could just ask Silurus on PC to get answer but changed email password etc and cant be bothered to try log on, so any users who go on there mind asking?

Hahaha yea what I have been hearing is rumors of a hybrid between B Yarelli and B Rutilus. I had seen someone else post on a separate forum about it. I honestly wouldnt be surprised As for true its hard to tell anymore XD Its a beautiful fish either way I just trust Jeffs judgement about this fish because of his reputation and such as well. He already got it trained on pellets!

Nice goonch. What temperature are you keeping the water? I notice you said he is with a black aro, so my guess is he is in a more tropical water temperature?

Hes at the higher temperature range for whats acceptable (his metabolism is higher. Tanks at 75-76 degrees which is really the maximum for any goonch cat to be
