Gonna address something quick because I keep getting pmed about it. The Goonch is a very slow growing fish. It would take many years for it to get to the 6 foot monster as seen on river monster (probably about 80 years). These do not have anything close to the growth rates to similar monster cats.

LOL, I get those questions all the time. I keep mine in 65 degree water temps and feed once or twice a week. My Niger cat I've had about the same time as my Goonch is a very fast grower so I can see where the questions come from.

Look at some of the threads by a member called Dieselmack, he kept his 2 B yarelli in temps of about 85, and had quite quick growth rates if a remember rightly.

Only after the last fish has been caught.
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.!"

Ive heard of deaths at the high temperature as well. Id never put the temp past 78 degrees. I just wouldn't want to risk the life of the fish. I know people have had successful fish at higher temps, but i love the goonch way to much to do that to him

Interesting. I think the younger/smaller Goonches can handle warmer waters. Thinking about it, smaller fish usually go to the more shallow areas to grow and feed. As they get larger they head to the deeper sections where the water is colder.
