So I'm trying to get another Cuban at the moment and some of y'all might recall the 3" one I lost. Although these should be much larger, I still want to make sure my conditions are spot on.

Last time I lost mine to a biological bloom. I now have that completely under control (as much as you really can). My ph came into question though. Where I live, there is a lot of limestone in the water (basically all). The ph comes out of the tap at 8.8+ and settles down to 7.4-7.8 without buffering. Is this ok or should I still maintain aragonite? Or is this more of a c.hardness thing and not an alkalinity thing? What should my cH be at? Thanks.

Anything between 7 and 8 is ok for most fish. Cuba has hard, alkaline water if I recall right. Cuban Cichlids can even survive in Saltwater.
