I noticed yesterday when doing a water change that my 9 inch tiger shovelnose (pseudoplatystom fasciatum) has an elongated triangle indentation starting about eye level and running almost to the end of his snout, is this normal or is there somthing wrong with him? please help as he is the 1st monster fish i got and i will be gutted if i lose him.

thanks in advance.

it looks as if he hit himself on something so nothing to worry about just do lots of water changes and turn the heat up and he should be just fine...sorry it took so long to reply

Yeah that shape is just the head structure as you beef him up it should slowly be less noticeable but the top of his head looks a little scratched up so I'd make sure nothing is picking on him but he looks fine nothing to worry about

Thanks for your help :) yea the scratches on his nose are from when I rearranged the tank and he got a bit spooked but the bit in the middle didn't look like a wound. As long as he will be ok I am happy :D
