    I.D. Synodontis Cat

There are two pics of him, and a picture of what he did to a featherfin syno the same size... Any idea on the species (or hybrid)? I got him at just under 2", now he's almost 2 and 1/2 in 2-4 weeks, not sure the exact date, probably closer to 4...

I am no expert and there are many look-alikes of this type http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...hp?genus_id=29. My first guess it may be S. nigrita http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...?species_id=89 Please, compare to the Cat-eLog photos and see if it is a match. The appearance appears to vary a bit not only as a function of age/size but perhaps as a region of origin too.

Mine is looking more and more hybrid-y... He killed the featherfin, and seems to share traits with a few of the species on the list. What throws me the most is the round dorsal, whereas most of the synos with these patterns have pointed fins...

Yeah, this is a tough one. May I suggest, if you really want a high-level ID advice on a non-remarkable-looking syno like that, get good pics and different angles and post on Planet Catfish. Chances are 999:1 you will get a good advice - I personally know great syno experts there.
