I am getting ready to receive a 240 gallon tank which I will be doing a salt water reef in for my office. I am looking forward to the lengthy learning process that goes along with it. I am going to follow the start up advice on the STICKY, but is there any pointed advice for a 1st time salt water go at it? BTW I have had freshwater tanks (mostly South American Cichlids & such) since I was in my teens, so I am not new to aquariums in general. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

go FOWLR first....worry about reef later....you can start with reef safe fish and build it up from there but it is much easier to do fowlr first

o forwlr get the hang of it THEN spend money on the corals and lights (make sure you get "reef friendly" fish)

Also TAKE YOUR TIME ! DO NOT RUSH !

thanks for all the advice. One thing seems consistent & that is to take my time! The good thing is I have got numerous tanks of cichlids & peacock bass going, so I can take this project on & still fulfill my enjoyment with my other tanks. Anything else technical that I might want to focus on please don't hesitate to mention.

Well, I ended up not getting the 240 from the guy, but I found a 115, bought it, filled it yesterday with water & bought live rock & live sand. It's right behind my desk in my office, which I plan to enjoy tremendously!
