Are they hard to feed? Would they come to the surface for food? If not which sinking pellet would be the best? Could I feed it cichlid pellets?

Mine eats frozen blood worm chunks, live red worms, an ghost shrimp. Haven't seen him eat any sort of pellets. He will come to the surface to grab a chunk of worms. He's in a tank fish a Severum an some Angels but he holds his own when it's time to eating.
