Universal Rocks Background Discolouring Water
Do the backgrounds discolour your water?
I purchased the flat sheet Universal Rocks background from a bulk roll at my LFS.
The background is very dirty left my hands black while handling it. I wiped the back of it clean with several wet paper towels to remove the film so the silicone would stick. I rinsed the front with warm water before filling the tank to clean off any residue. I filled the tank last night and this morning the water was brown, and a brown film on the glass after I drained the water that I had to use a razor to remove.
I have well water and used Seachem Cichlid buffer to bring up my PH. I had no substrate in the tank. I never had this problem with other tanks. The only thing I did different was use the background.

Same here - I always first layout it on the drive way on top of some styrofoam and wash it off with the garden hose. Never had any issues with these backgrounds....

After scrubbing and washing several times it stopped discoloring the water. I wish I knew this would happen before I installed it. Its now going to be a royal PITA to clean the background that siliconed into my 150.
