Juruense Feeding Problems
Hey guys got a 2 incher from Snookn21 a couple days ago. Decided to feed him today to see if he will take frozen, he ate one piece of mysis shrimp and that's it. Refused blood worms and brine shrimp. I don't wont him to starve to death, so should I give in and go get some feeders, or wait a day or two and try again. Never had to train a catfish to eat frozen before, only pbass to eat pellets. I have him in a 40 breeder by himself. He will probably go to my 180 when he reaches 6 inches. Any suggestion or info will be greatly appreciated.

They take a while to settle in. He ate a piece of mysis shrimp, so that's good. Don't start feeders. He will settle it.

Patience is the key word. Only give feeders when his belly seems to be sunken in.

This may be helpful: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...live-(guppies)
Mine are from John too. Got them at ~4". I saw the 2"-ers at John's a couple of weeks ago. Nice, fat happy guys.
Yours ate, that's a good sign. If he is in as good a shape as I had seen him, a week's fast is ok to try.
Sure. An appropriately small bit. Keep offering only dead foods for 7-10 days. If zero, get one small guppy for him, then continue again. Can offer every 2-3 days too.

Thanks for the info and link, I ended up switching him over last Friday on to shrimp. He now accepts them very well and eats until his belly is round,

Excellent! Would you mind posting in that linked thread how you switched yours over (I know John fed them guppies) with detailed description (for posterity)?
Getting to do that when they are young and straight away have been ID-ed as two major factors in people's success in weaning the jurs over onto dead foods. So your example falls very well into that scenario.
