    Changing filter, need suggestions/help

    hey guys,

I have a 90 gallon tank that is stocked with a female jaguar cichlid, a tiger oscar, and a common pleco (Pterygoplichthys pardalis). They are all pretty much at their adult size. Right now i run an AC 70 and an eheim 2226 for filtration. I have been contemplating changing the canister filter for an AC 110 for some time now, but I am worried that maybe it will not be as good. The eheim is made for tanks of up to 90g, while the ac 110 can handle up to 100. I know some will say just swap the 70 for the 110 but I want to eliminate the canister to save on space and time (cleaning and maintaining it). I know the power head will need to be cleaned more often than the canister does, but I would rather clean a power filter in 20 mins than a canister in 45. Im a university student and I have a full time job, so cutting a corner with cleaning filters will free up some time for me. What I want to know is, if I make the change from having an eheim 2226+ac70 to ac110+ac70 will it be bad for my tank and fish? I understand I have high waste fish which is why more filtration is necessary, but I don't want that my wanting to save time kills them. SO what say you mfk friends?

Put the bio media from the canister into the ac110,and filters are rated on bio capacity and gph, so often times it's confusing, as long as the bacteria stays alive it should stay cycled. I run 2 ac110 and have for awhile now, great filters, just use sponge and bio.

I assumed you would do that, don't clean it, just put it on and plug in, if you have bio media in ur eheim might as well throw it in the AC110

Well I might as well do it right, I'll make sure I swap some media from the eheim to the AC110 then. Thank you very much though for the advice

it will be fine... just jam as much BIO from the can ON TOP OF the sponge in the 110..this will almost certainly eliminate a chance of cycling(crash)... GOOD LUCK ...AC'S ROCK...
