I have an fx5 and a 404, I've never had any problems. I changed out the tubing on the fx5 and had to make some mods but since then i havent experienced a single problem.

The only issue with the 304 I've had, other than starting it up, was my son, not the product itself. The clamps are so easy to undo that my two year old undid one side, no one noticed till it had pumped about 30 gallons of water on the floor. My cabinets have locks on them now

I recently moved my FX-5 from a bigger tank to my 180 and for some reason it would only run for a minute or so before completely shutting off.I would have to un and replug the filter and it would start up as normal then shut off. After a going through this a few times it has not shut off and is running constantly and smoothly.I love it on the 180 as I have never seen so much surface water movement from a return outlet before.

That because the filter auto purges after running for a couple minutes when u first plug it in, then it will turn off letting the bubbles escape for a few minutes then kick back on and every 24 hours it will turn off for a minute and purge the air again, this helps the filter to run more efficient by evacuating the trapped air, all in all very cool.
So every time u unplug it and plug it back in it will do the same thing, run for a few then turn off for a few.
