I also really like Eheims and probably would have bought the 2262 if it wasn't twice the price. I am still considering buying one anyways but $400 makes me consider setting up my larger tank and going with a sump.
I like the C-Series I'm running two now holds way more media than the FX5 in fact sometime I'm at a loss what to put in all the trays It is slightly louder but not enough to really notice. It weighs a ton tough with a bunch of bio media full.

Oh and I dislike my fx5 for anything but stuffing it with media.

On to the topic, if we are talking FX5s, I can find some flaws. Problem is there's not many other filters out there that are as big and have as much flow (actually, maybe none off the shelf? Eheim 2262 has the size but not the flow), so what can you really compare it to as far as canisters go?
I mean, a lot of the more advanced members here won't even chime in on people who use these on their "big" 125 gallon tanks. Sumps can easily outperform canisters, some of the bead filters and other stuff coming out are much more interesting.
And some of my fishkeeping friends that are probably more successful than most primarily use HOBs and sponges...

I actually threw my aquatop away because it started to leak and wouldn't stop.

I actually really like my aquatops. I have three (one for over a year I believe) and besides the cheap UV bulbs burning out, they run great and are dead silent.

But to stay on topic if we are any more. I would say i have been very happy with my fx5s so far. I own 2 of them and wouldn't trade them.
I have no issues yet... Has been very easy to maintain/clean. I just turn the filters off. Shut off the valve so no water leaks then just pretty much pull them off then carry the filter outside to clean. I did a 50% water change with a python and buckets and also cleaned my fx5 in 1 hour on my 135. Not to bad imo.
But so far very satisfied with the filter. But i also really love my ac110 so easy for maintenance.

It was a good filter. I had it for a year. But just didn't have the flow i was looking for and leaked i would rather have kept it to have more flow but just wouldn't stop leaking. Let out about 2 gallons to 5 gallons a night.. Well filled up that bucket i had it in...

Fx5 is shown to push 57% of it's rated flow when full and all hoses connected

The 2080 was tested it pushed 71% of it's rated flow when full and all hoses are connected

When I had my last fx5 and my 2262 connected on the same tank both full to the rim with media the 2262 holds a lot more. The 2262 pushed a lot more than the fx5

I can't find the lab study that was posted on the fx5vs2080

Like I said before if the eheims weren't an option I'd stick with the fx5

I saw a 5g bucket test with the FX5 and the Eheim 2262 posted on a forum somewhere a few months ago. The flow rate was about the same when both had similar media. Remember though the Eheim 2262 holds A LOT more media. It is also hard to compare these filters for many different reasons but price point is what puts Eheim behind the 8 ball with the 2262 at almost twice the price. I now wish I would have splurged. I like my FX5 but I would have bought the Eheim had the price been even close.
