I am in the process of setting up my take and figuring out what exactly would be a good fish population to stock it with. My wife love the colorfull fish and we are not afraid to have native fish either so suggestions would be welcome on all species. I am wanting to have more than on fish in the tank and prefer movement on all levels of the tank.

When setting up the aquascape I plan on using driftwood, rocks and live plants. Currently I only have sand in the bottom and my daughter talked me into getting so fish for her so have 5 zebra danios who are doing great. Thinking driftwood off centered with a few rocks and plants surounding it as well as some moss on the limbs. On the opposite end I am thinking of plants with with a large pile of rocks and pebbles flowing across to meet up with others.

The tank I have doesn't have a hood but plan on building one my self and adding lights to it aswell. On the lighting I am unsure as to which lights I should use so input would be accepted. I would also like to drain and create my on background for it but haven't made up my mind on that yet as I don't want to take up to much space in the aquarium.

Please respond as I am kinda new since it's been like 10 years since I have had an aquarium. I did have one for a few months it was a little 20 gall with 2 convicts in it who spawned within 1 month lol buzy little things. I sold those and used money to get this tank to increase what I was able to do with it.

Ok no one replied but ok, lol.

Currently I have 5 zebra danios and 5 GBR's plus 2 7-8" Green Severums. I also haven't started on hood or lighting for light I use one 10.5" clamp light with 1 15w CFL 6500K light. I have drift wook and one rock in tank with them I am looking for plants that will be ok with low to moderate light since won't be going all out on lighting. I am also wondering about filtration I currently only have 1 Aqueon 55/75 power filter on tank and I need to add more or upgrade. I have looked into building my own canister filter but haven't decided if would be ok or if should just buy one or two canisters to use. Need help been out of hobby for long time.
Here are some pics

Definitely need more filtration. I recommend 2 aquaclear 110, and maybe a canister filter.

I'd say add a dozen or two cories, some more driftwood, and another Aqueon. 55/75 would be ok, 110 would be better. you could do some more danios or equivalent.
a 2 lamp T5HO fixture will let you grow a sword plant or two, some anubius, and some Dwarf sagittaria.

I added another piece of driftwood and also moved little java to wood and also added some more rocks. I know need more filtration just haven't found what I want to use yet. Also I thought(that's a bad thing for me lol) my tank was close to being over stocked acording to aqadvisor.com. If not I am definatly going to add some cories just don't know which ones yet. Plants I am definitly new to those and trying to figure them out. I think maybe some tall thin leaf plants by the back of the long piece of wood in the corner and an anubis in the middle with some kinda small grass in front and something along the back of the tank. Oh and for filtration wanting a canister and if anyone is around NE Okla and would trade an acoustic guitar for one I got one:D
