NEW to marine
Hi i really keen on marine tanks, always have been, but have been wary or holding back cause of fiance
Ive learnt i can start slowly and want to start with the live rock and sand.
Is it ok for me to grip my own sand, rock and biomatter from ocean and start the system.
Im expecting like 6 months for any true cycle and system to start but can anyone
give me tips were and how to start a system this way.
i know patience is key so the natural way is key and could be my gateway to a beautiful setup
thanks alot spaceship

Here's one problem - the shoreline is polluted - as for rocks they'd be what we consider cycled but not cured and as for the sand you'd be better off with sterile dry aragonite as shoreline sand is littered with garbage

Your best bet is buying non live rock ranging from 2-3 dollars a pound and citing it yourself. I wouldn't take from the ocean but that's just me
