Black Ghost Knifes have been my favourite fish since I first saw one about 40 years ago. These videos are of my current one. Bought at 3" 7 years ago, grew to 10" in 2 years, then an inch a year since then, now 15".

Some myths...

BGKs are scaleless. They're not, they have scales...

They're aggressive predators... well this is an odd one. In the US you all say they eat small fish. None of the ones I've kept have ever harmed a fish. I've kept all of them with fish small enough to eat, even fry (one would even back off from food when livebearer fry were checking it out, waiting for them to move away before grabbing it). So in all my experiences with BGKs I've found them to be totally peaceful to all other (non-electrical) fish regardless of size.

They will bite, but only in self defense (ime).

Hope you enjoy the vids. :)

Mine will eat small fish occassionally, though I've never seen it. Happens ay night when he finds a little sleeping victim.
